Leeds United are ready to fight for Mikkel Damsgaard, according to the Daily Star.
However, as per the news outlet, the Elland Road faithful are likely to face competition from some of their Premier League rivals, with Southampton, West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur named as other possible destinations for the Sampdoria sensation.
Should Leeds sign Damsgaard?
Damsgaard is also attracting transfer interest from clubs across Europe, with Juventus currently monitoring his progress, and he is highly rated in his homeland of Denmark, given that he has already played for the senior Danish national team at just 20 years of age.
Sampdoria believes that he is worth £15m and are expecting to receive some offers for their rising star in the summer transfer window.
Leeds should jump on Damsgaard
With so many other clubs seemingly in the race for Damsgaard, Marcelo Bielsa’s side should be jumping on the opportunity to sign him in the summer.
Despite his relatively young age, the winger has emerged as a key player for his club, with no fewer than 22 games played in all competitions so far in the 2020/21 term, scoring two goals and making a further four assists (Transfermarkt).
Claudio Ranieri, who won the top-flight title with Leicester City and is now the manager at Sampdoria, described Damsgaard as a ‘very talented’ player earlier this month, which is high praise coming from the man who signed the relatively-unknown N’Golo Kante. As we know, he ended up being such an important gem for the Foxes in their title-winning season and went on to win the Premier League again with Chelsea just a year later.
Whether Damsgaard reaches the heights of the likes of Kante in the division is another question, but he certainly has the potential, and that could be fulfilled at the Whites.
