Phil Hay has dropped a quite damning transfer update on Fikayo Tomori, who has been linked with a move to Leeds United in this month’s window.
Sharing a piece that he co-wrote for The Athletic, the football journalist claimed that the Yorkshire club are not in the market for another central defender in January, and added that ‘Bielsa (is) happy to make do‘.
Tomori would be a good signing for Leeds
Given that Marcelo Bielsa’s team have conceded no fewer than 33 goals in the Premier League after just the 17 games so far in the 2020/21 term, the second most behind West Brom, the Whites should be looking for a commanding centre-back to try and fix their defensive issues.
Should Leeds sign Tomori?
Even though he is only 23 years of age, Tomori may well fit the bill based on some of his ‘amazing’ displays for Chelsea under Frank Lampard last season.
The England international won a mammoth 5.2 of his duels per game in the top flight, and also averaged a very impressive 2.8 clearances, 1.9 tackles and 1.5 interceptions per match (Sofascore).
However, it looks as if the Peacocks are highly unlikely to make a move for him in this month’s transfer window, at least according to Hay, but they should really be looking into bringing a centre-half in to help them stop leaking goals for the rest of the campaign.
