The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern have spent the last few days celebrating their side’s weekend victory over Chelsea, with the Lilywhites breaking their Stamford Bridge curse by winning the game.
It’s never been a good place to go for Mauricio Pochettino’s men, but it appears as though the tide in London could be changing.
However, the nature of one of their main rivalries seemingly isn’t the only thing that is changing at Tottenham.
Tottenham’s wage structure has always been infamously strict, and that has – it could be argued – held them back from signing some of Europe’s best talents over the years.
However, they’re now on the cusp of a wave, with a handful of genuinely world-class players on their books. Clearly, the Tottenham brass now recognises that they are making enough money as a team to begin to afford to bring in more top players – meaning that it’s a very exciting time to be a Tottenham fan.
Landlord’s Verdict
Tottenham’s financial state is clearly in a good position, and so changes do make sense.
Significantly, both Son and Eriksen have been crucial for Spurs this season, and so likewise, it makes sense for the Lilywhites to tie them down long-term.
It will no doubt be a long process for Tottenham, but things appear to be changing, and if Levy begins to dig deeper into his pockets, there is no telling where his team could be in a few years.
