Chelsea striker Liam Delap could already be on the move again just one year after his arrival at Stamford Bridge, following a difficult debut campaign in London.
Signed from Ipswich Town for around £30 million, expectations were high for the young forward, but he has struggled to make an impact.
Delap managed just one Premier League goal, picked up four bookings, and often appeared short of the sharpness needed at the top level.
Now, speculation is growing that the 22-year-old could be allowed to leave as Chelsea prepare for another summer rebuild.
Delap Tipped for Fulham Move
Former Chelsea striker Carlton Cole has suggested that Fulham could be a possible destination for Delap, particularly if Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna replaces Marco Silva at Craven Cottage.
McKenna is understood to be under consideration for the Fulham job, and talkSPORT reports that bringing in a new striker would be a priority if he is appointed.
Discussing the situation, talkSPORT’s chief football correspondent Alex Crook said: “Very good question. Well, obviously Raul Jimenez has left. He’s in talks with Wolves, by the way a lot of their fans would welcome that return, so yes it could be a good shout.”
Cole added while reflecting on the idea: “I think it’s a good shout. I’m just thinking outside the box!”
With Fulham potentially in the market for attacking reinforcements and Delap’s Chelsea future uncertain, a Premier League switch could emerge as a realistic option this summer.
If he does indeed leave, Dusan Vlahovic, who will become a free agent when his Juventus contract expires at the end of June, is being tipped as a potential replacement.
