The Spurs fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to comments made by their Argentine livewire, Erik Lamela. Whilst speaking in an interview for the Tottenham Hotspur website, Lamela reflected upon his last 12 months with Spurs, the winger went over a year without playing for the Lilywhites as he required surgery on a hip injury but is now back on the pitch and back among on the goals.
Lamela, who’s valued at £22.5 million by Transfermarkt, scored his first goal of the season against Newport County in the FA Cup back in early February and doubled his tally for the season in Saturday’s FA Cup semi-final win over Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium. The 26-year-old signed for the club from Roma back in summer 2013 and has become a fan favourite in N17 with his work rate, flair and selflessness helping to endear himself to the Tottenham faithful.
The Argentine international’s return from injury has come at a superb time for the Lilywhites as they march towards a top-four finish in the Premier League and face a tricky test in the FA Cup’s last four against Manchester United. Lamela is yet to win his first piece of silverware in North London, despite going close in the League Cup and the Premier League in his years with the club. Spurs fans will be willing on their Argentine winger as he looks to help the club bring home their first major trophy in over ten years this season.
With that in mind, here’s the local Lilywhites verdict on Lamela:
Looked like a brand new signing since he’s been back. I’m in love with the Coco
