Liverpool are already closing in a second summer transfer signing, after contacting Bournemouth for left back Milos Kerkez. This comes after the news of Liverpool’s full agreement with Leverkusen right back Jeremie Frimpong – who is set for a medical in Liverpool on Monday to finalize his deal.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano announced that Liverpool are advancing in talks with Bournemouth over a transfer fee for Kirkez, having already agreed personal terms with the player. Romano did not confirm a number, but Bournemouth is believed to have set an asking price of around £45m for the player.
The Premier League champions look set for a busy summer, with Arne Slot announcing plans were underway for a squad refresh. The Reds are reportedly on the market for a number of reinforcements, namely a striker, winger, and two long term fullbacks.

They look to be close to completing the latter part of that plan, having already wrapped up an agreement for Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong to replace the outgoing Trent Alexander-Arnold. The long serving right back announced his decision to depart the club at the end of the season and is reportedly close to agreeing to join Spanish giants Real Madrid.
Liverpool acted quickly to activate Frimpong’s £35m release clause, and the 24 year old is seen a perfect like for like replacement for Alexander-Arnold.
Left back is another key area Liverpool hope to address, as the club are looking for a long term replacement for the aging Andy Robertson. Robertson’s contract is not due to expire until 2026, but the 31 year old has has had fair share of injury problems in the past few seasons.
He is expected to sign a shorter term extension closer to his contract expiry – much like teammates Mo Salah and Virgil Van Djik.
Current second choice left back Konstantinos Tsimikas is expected to leave the club in search of first team football, which would leave Robertson as the only recognized left back at the club.
This paves the way for Liverpool to swoop for a long term option in that position. Kerkez fits that mold, with the 21 year old highly regarded for his performances in the Premier League.
Kerkez joined Bournemouth from AZ Alkmaar in 2023 and has slotted straight into the team. He played 28 matches in his debut season last year, only missing out on some appearances through injury.
This year he has appeared in all but one Premier League game, contributing two goals and five assists. Lauded for his clever passing and crossing ability in the attacking third, Kerkez is a modern wing back.
He will fit into Slot’s system and could compete with Robertson in the immediate future.
Bournemouth could be set for a clear out of sorts, after news broke of a deal to sell their other highly rated youngster Dean Huijsen to Real Madrid for £50m. Highly rated right winger Antoine Semenyo is another on the radar of many clubs across the Premier League and Europe.
