Liverpool: Bournemouth to make £25m move for Harry Wilson

Bournemouth are ready to make a £25m bid for Liverpool youngster Harry Wilson.

The Sun report that Eddie Howe is keen to bring the Wales international to the Vitality Stadium for the upcoming season and that Bournemouth are now the front-runners for the 22-year-old winger despite previous interest from Aston Villa and Newcastle.

Liverpool’s only major sale this summer has so far been Danny Ings’ permanent move to Southampton, with the striker moving to the Saints for a reported £20m according to BBC Sport.

Despite enjoying a breakthrough season with Derby County where Wilson’s 16 goals and four assists (per Transfermarkt) were pivotal in the Rams making it to the Championship play-off final, the 22-year-old has been largely underused by Klopp this pre-season.

As is mentioned in the aforementioned report, Wilson has only seen the pitch twice in Liverpool’s pre-season so far this summer, coming off the bench against Sporting Lisbon and Napoli.

Although the Welsh international was never likely to take a spot in the first-team once the season kicked-off with Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah the comfortable first choice picks as the duo both won the Premier League Golden Boot in the 2018/19 campaign (per Liverpool’s official website). And, it is a worrying sign that Wilson has hardly featured under Jurgen Klopp in the previous weeks.

With 20 goal contributions last season in the Championship, the third-highest out of any winger in the division (per Transfermarkt), Wilson should be looking to play regular first-team football to build upon the impressive year he had at Derby.

With Bournemouth proving to be a good landing spot for homegrown talent with David Brooks impressing immensely for the Cherries last season, claiming the FAW’s Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year award (per Wales Online), Howe’s side could be an ideal destination for Wilson.

Wilson was always going to struggle for first-team minutes at Liverpool next season with Mane and Salah way ahead of him in the pecking order, but with the youngster hardly getting a look-in during pre-season, it could be time for the winger to make the permanent move away from Anfield for the betterment of his career.

Indeed, the success of Howe with young players would be an exciting proposition for Wilson, who could be in the fray to play regular first-team football with the Cherries if the south coast side make a move for the Welsh international.

Liverpool fans, should Wilson permanently move from Anfield? Let us know!
