Liverpool: Fans lap up Jurgen Klopp’s comments as he targets more silverware

A number of Liverpool fans have lapped up comments from Jurgen Klopp as he sets his sights towards yet more silverware in the upcoming season.

The German has won four trophies in the last 14 months at Anfield, including the Champions League and the club’s first Premier League title, with the Reds having lifted only one trophy (the League Cup in 2012) in the preceding 13 years.

In an interview with German media outlet Sport Buzzer, Klopp gave an insight into his and the team’s mindset by saying: “We’re not defending any titles, we want to get new ones, we’ve only just started winning”. Those quotes were later shared on Twitter by @AnfieldEdition.

Liverpool will now hope to repeat Manchester City’s feat of last year by retaining their Premier League crown, something which has happened only once since 2009, with the manager keen for the past 12-14 months not to be an isolated period of glory as he reiterated to Sport Buzzer that he intends to step away from his current role in 2024 and may even take a break from football then.
