Jude Bellingham will join Liverpool during the summer transfer window as long as the Reds want him, according to former Celtic striker Frank McAvennie.

The Lowdown: Bellingham main Reds target

The 19-year-old is Jurgen Klopp's primary transfer target this summer, in what could be one of the most exciting signings by the club in years.

Endless reports have stated that Bellingham is wanted by Liverpool, although they are far from alone in showing an interest in the prodigious England star.

It is widely expected that the midfielder will leave Borussia Dortmund at the end of the season, at which point there will be a huge scramble to sign him.

The Latest: Pundit backs deal to happen

Speaking to Football Insider, 63 year-old McAvennie said that he believes Bellingham to Liverpool is a done deal, assuming the Reds want to sign him:

"Bellingham will come in at the end of the season. I think if Liverpool want him he is theirs.

"I think it would be a great signing for Liverpool I really do."

The Verdict: Liverpool need him and more

There is certainly a vibe that Liverpool feel like the front-runners to snap up Bellingham this summer, but that will only happen if they can offer him the wages he wants and the fee Dortmund demand.

The teenager would be a sensational signing, given both his present and long-term ability - Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett has called him 'world-class' - and it would go a long way to solving the Reds' current midfield woes.

That being said, Bellingham won't end the problems on his own, with at least one more midfielder required, if not two, as Klopp completely rebuilds in the middle of the park.
