Liverpool have struggled to maintain their high expectations this season, particularly in attack.
The Reds are currently fifth in the Premier League table and are in a strong position to qualify for the Champions League next season after their victory over Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium yesterday.
Though supporters will be relieved that European qualification remains in sight, a dark cloud has loomed over Anfield this season, leaving them without silverware and with poor performances aplenty over the last 12 months.
Liverpool were the biggest spenders in the Premier League last summer, as the hierarchy committed over £450m to bolster the squad in an effort to continue the positive progress made last season.
Alexander Isak, Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz were brought in with hefty price tags to improve and support an already well-established attacking unit, but the trio have struggled amid transition and injuries.
Not only are the new additions struggling to get off the mark, but Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo have also been shadows of themselves in front of goal.
With the Egyptian winger confirming his exit from Anfield last month, there is clear room to future-proof the forward line.
According to Football Insider, Liverpool are one of several Premier League clubs to have joined the race to sign AFC Bournemouth star Eli Junior Kroupi.
The publication claims the Cherries are preparing to sell their teenage sensation this summer, with several clubs noted as interested parties.
Manchester United and Arsenal are also believed to be confident of luring Kroupi from Bournemouth.
Transfer expert Peter O’Rourke told the Transfer Insider podcast:
“Obviously we know with Bournemouth, they’ve had their difficulties trying to keep hold of their best players.
“Bournemouth know if the big clubs come calling, they’re going to find it really hard to keep hold of them and they will sell at the right price.
“Kroupi has been a real revelation for Bournemouth this season. He scored in both meetings against Manchester United this season as well, so there’s no surprise that they will be keen.
“But yeah, I think you’re talking about £50–60 million.
“For Bournemouth, although they don’t want to lose him, if a big-money offer comes in, I’m sure it’s something they will sit down and consider.”
Should Liverpool sign Kroupi?

There is no doubt that Kroupi has stolen the spotlight in the Premier League this season and could be one of the most sought-after prospects this summer.
The 19-year-old – once hailed a “generational talent” by teammate Marcus Tavernier – is a versatile asset who can operate as a striker, in attacking midfield, and has experience on the left wing.
This versatility makes him an attractive option for clubs competing in multiple competitions and looking to build an attacking unit capable of matching Europe’s elite.
With Salah set to depart, Liverpool will lose not only goals but also a player capable of stretching defences and dictating attacking patterns.
Rather than seeking a direct replacement, Kroupi would offer a different dynamic, centred around movement, link-up play and positional flexibility.
Ekitike and Isak are both experienced, well-defined forwards, but Kroupi still has plenty of time to establish himself and further develop in the years to come.
As a result, Liverpool would provide a strong platform for Kroupi to take his game to the next level, while the Bournemouth teenager would offer the Reds an exciting attacking project to develop.
With that being said, it would be a no-brainer for Liverpool to pursue the opportunity to sign him this summer, as he could be exactly what they need to add more versatility, intensity and unpredictability in the final third.
