Fresh off a Premier League title win in Arne Slot’s first season at the helm, Liverpool have wasted no time reinforcing their squad during a busy and ambitious summer.
It began with the signing of Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen—one of world football’s most exciting attacking right-backs—brought in to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold, who sealed a long-anticipated move to Real Madrid.
Then came Milos Kerkez on the opposite flank, the Hungarian left-back seen as a long-term successor to Andy Robertson. And most notably, the Reds landed their marquee addition in Florian Wirtz, also from Leverkusen. One of the best attacking midfielders in world football, Wirtz is expected to add creative flair and incisiveness to Liverpool’s evolving front line.
Slot’s intentions are clear: even after a title-winning campaign, there will be no standing still at Anfield. The Dutchman wants to evolve and build a new-look Liverpool—one fit to dominate for years.
Now, another high-profile name could be on the horizon.
Liverpool Prepare for Hugo Ekitike Talks

According to a new report from GIVEMESPORT, Liverpool are preparing to open discussions over a deal for Eintracht Frankfurt forward Hugo Ekitike.
The 22-year-old French striker, often compared to Kylian Mbappé for his speed, movement, and composure in front of goal, scored 22 times across all competitions last season. His breakout year has cemented him as one of the Bundesliga’s most dangerous forwards.
Intermediaries are said to have given Frankfurt confidence that Liverpool are seriously interested, with sources close to the club suggesting that the Reds are edging closer to opening formal negotiations. Frankfurt remain firm on their £86 million asking price—but believe Liverpool could be prepared to meet it before the window closes.
However, there is one major condition that could dictate whether a deal is done. GIVEMESPORT sources indicate that Liverpool will need to sanction the departure of Darwin Núñez in order to make room—both financially and tactically—for Ekitike.

Núñez endured a difficult 2024/25 season, netting just seven goals and often looking out of sync with Slot’s tactical setup. While Liverpool spent £85 million to bring him in from Benfica, the club is now looking to recoup a significant portion of that fee.
Napoli have reportedly submitted a £42 million offer, though it’s unclear whether that figure will be enough to convince Liverpool to part ways with the Uruguayan striker.
What is clear is that Ekitike would represent a major upgrade—both in terms of form and stylistic fit. And in the wake of the tragic death of Diogo Jota, securing a dynamic, prolific forward has now become a priority at Anfield.
If the pieces fall into place, Liverpool could be about to add yet another top-tier talent to their already impressive summer haul.
