Liverpool have rejected Bayern Munich’s approach for winger Luis Diaz, as reported by Sky Sports. Diaz was reportedly added to Bayern’s shortlist this week, with the Bundesliga champions known to be in the market for attacking reinforcements.

Leroy Sane has left the club to join Galatasaray as a free agent, and Bayern are actively searching for replacements in the wide areas. Diaz was identified as the main target, but Bayern sporting director Max Eberl has now been informed the 28-year-old is not for sale.

No further discussions have taken place between the clubs at this time.

This marks the second time this summer that Liverpool has had to deliver this message, as the Reds also rejected Barcelona’s advance for the player. Saudi Pro League club Al Nassr also expressed interest in the Diaz this summer but have not formally approached Liverpool.

Liverpool stand firm on Diaz

Diaz has been the subject of much speculation this summer after his 13 Premier League goals and five assists helped Liverpool claim the title.

The Liverpool hierarchy view the Colombian as key piece of the squad and will not entertain any approaches for the player.

Diaz has two years remaining on his deal, having joined Liverpool from Porto in January of 2022 for £49m. He has scored 41 goals in 148 appearances across all competitions for Liverpool, winning the Premier League, the FA Cup and two League Cups.

The player last month said he is happy at Anfield and would be happy to see out the remainder of his contract, but also admitted to being in contact with other clubs.

“I’m very, very happy in Liverpool,” he said while on international duty with Colombia. “From day one, they’ve made me feel really welcome.”

“Right now we’re in contact with them because we’re speaking with [other] clubs. It’s normal, the market is open, and we’re trying to sort out what’s best for us.”

“I am just waiting to see what happens. If Liverpool doesn’t make a good offer, I still have two years left with them, I would be happy and content to stay there.”

These comments seemingly opened the door to approaches this summer but Liverpool has now made their stance clear.
