Tottenham’s attack is up there with the Premier League’s best, but according to our resident Lilywhites, their problem is a lack of depth.
Beyond Harry Kane, in particular, Mauricio Pochettino has little choice at present, given Fernando Llorente’s poor form over the last year. Whether the nomadic Spaniard will remain at the club for another year remains to be seen, but one thing is certain – Tottenham can’t go into another campaign with just him and Kane in the attack.
We recently made the case that West Brom’s Salomon Rondon could be the perfect option to bring in as Pochettino looks to improve his choices. The attacker had a decent season last year during a campaign in which his team really struggled, and there’s an argument to suggest that he was one of the few bright sparks in the squad.
That should encourage Tottenham, certainly, and it appears as though a decent portion of Tottenham fans have been convinced by his quality.
We asked fans whether Rondon should replace Llorente as Kane’s back-up, and 57% of those polled responded stating that they would.
Clearly, then, he’s supported by a pretty big chunk of the Tottenham fanbase, and it’s not too hard to see why. He’s tall, he’s strong, he’s robust, and he scores goals – and Llorente hasn’t really offered any of that over the last year.
Better options may be out there, but Rondon could be a fantastic choice.
