Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping to see some new faces arrive at the club soon ahead of their move to a new stadium.
There has been no transfer activity of any kind which is making the regulars in the Tavern extremely nervous. Our punters have watched Liverpool and Manchester United make key signings already making them favourites to challenge Manchester City for the title next season. Reinforcements are needed if Spurs are to build on their third-place finish.
Attack will be an area of concern for Mauricio Pochettino. Vincent Janssen is surely expected to leave the club, and Fernando Llorente could also be set for an exit after failing to displace Harry Kane in the starting eleven. A new back up striker needs to be signed.
The perfect signing could be Sporting Lisbon striker – Bas Dost. Valued at £19.8m by Transfermarkt, the Dutch forward has terminated his contract with the Portuguese club meaning he would be available for free. He netted 34 goals in all competitions; he would be an excellent alternative to Kane in the Tottenham attack.
Dost is a world-class finisher. Back in April, he ended a streak of 45 first-time finish goals in a row. The 29-year-old may be one dimensional, but is a master of his trade. He would fit perfectly into Pochettino’s system in North London and could prove to be an astute piece of business.
