The Spurs fans in the Transfer Tavern are getting worried about their club’s lack of movement in the transfer market.

In Harry Kane, Tottenham have one of the best strikers in Europe and at only 23-years-old, they could have him for quite some time. However, as far as a backup striker goes, Tottenham have Vincent Janssen. That’s not good enough if you’re pushing for a Premier League title quite frankly and Pochettino really should have a look within the transfer market to see who could give Kane a run for his money.

After all, a better backup will put more pressure on Kane which could see, although it’s hard to imagine, even better performances from the England international. Whilst Pochettino won’t want to break the bank to get a backup for his side but maybe dropping £20 million on a capable backup who could potentially take the first team spot, or just be relied on for cup ties could be the difference between a trophy-laden season or another similar season that Spurs have suffered for the last few years. On that note, Tottenham should really think about making a move for one of these three strikers.

Javier Hernandez

Former Manchester United striker, Javier Hernandez has been linked with West Ham in recent days, however the club are reportedly unwilling to match the strikers wage demands. If this window has taught us anything, it’s how to swoop in for a player at the last minute and Spurs could do that with Hernandez. He may not like playing second string but he’d certainly force Kane to up his game and contend with him for a first team spot.

Max Kruse

Contributing to 22 goals in 23 Bundesliga games last season, Max Kruse was a man on form who only missed games due to injury. At 29-years-old, Spurs may be able to offer him a new challenge, along with higher wages to tempt him to join them and play as their back up to Kane. It’s not like Kruse is consistently hitting these sorts of numbers so a move would be smarter for him in the long run and Spurs would get a useful player in the process.

Edin Dzeko

Now this one is a bit of a long shot given that Edin Dzeko joined Roma from City in order to gain more first team football, but if Pochettino could convince him, Dzeko would be a fantastic addition to the Spurs side. A Premier League winner and a man who scored 29 goals and managed 12 assists in 37 games last season. Contributing to 41 goals in 37 games, statistically, puts him as one of the best forwards across Europe for last season.
