Manchester City’s season has finally sparked into life in recent months.
With silverware already secured in the EFL Cup, progression to the FA Cup semi-finals, and an unbeaten Premier League run stretching back to mid-January, Pep Guardiola’s side are once again building momentum.
Even so, there is already a clear focus on the summer transfer window.
One area City are keen to address is their lack of a reliable backup to Erling Haaland, with the club now identifying a rising Bundesliga talent as a potential solution.
Man City Make Contact for Kofane
Manchester City have made initial contact over a potential move for Bayer Leverkusen striker Christian Kofane, as they look to strengthen their attacking options.
The 19-year-old forward — described as “outstanding” by Bundesliga expert Manuel Veth — has enjoyed a breakout campaign since arriving from Albacete last summer. Despite limited starts, he has made a significant impact, contributing five goals and three assists in just 10 league appearances.
Kofane’s rapid rise has attracted widespread interest across Europe.
According to TEAMtalk, several clubs are tracking the teenager closely, including Chelsea, Newcastle United, Everton, Brentford, Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
City, however, have now taken concrete steps by initiating contact, positioning themselves strongly in what is becoming a highly competitive race. The Premier League champions view Kofane as a player who could both support Haaland in the short term and develop into a leading striker in his own right.
With demand for elite young forwards at an all-time high, Kofane — whose agent
Eric Depolo, estimates his value at £87 million — is quickly emerging as one of the most sought-after talents in Europe.
Manchester City’s early move could give them an edge, but with top clubs circling and a hefty valuation already set, securing his signature will be anything but straightforward this summer.
