Manchester City preparing massive £70 million bid for “explosive” Chelsea forward loved by Enzo Maresca

Manchester City and Chelsea could be set for another dramatic transfer battle this summer following the controversial managerial switch involving Enzo Maresca.

The Italian left Chelsea after just one season in charge, with the club initially describing his departure as a mutual decision and stating that both parties felt a change was needed to get the team moving in the right direction.

However, Maresca later revealed that he had actually handed in his resignation, admitting that his decision ultimately “opened a path” for him to take charge of Manchester City following Pep Guardiola’s exit.

As a result, both City and Maresca himself are set to pay Chelsea hefty compensation packages.

Now, the rivalry between the two clubs could intensify further, with Maresca reportedly targeting one of his former Chelsea players.

Man City Preparing Neto Bid

According to The Sun, Manchester City are preparing an approach for Chelsea winger Pedro Neto, with the Premier League champions viewing the Portugal international as a key target.  His potential departure would be one of the most impactful moves of the Premier League season before the window shuts.

The 26-year-old has been valued at around £70 million by Chelsea, who are reluctant to lose one of their important attacking players. However, City’s interest has grown after Maresca identified Neto as a player who would suit his tactical plans.

Neto, described as “explosive” by Owen Hargreaves, could now be reunited with his former manager at the Etihad Stadium, with City having already made a statement signing this summer by bringing in Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest for a British-record fee.

Chelsea are under no pressure to sell, but their stance could change if a major offer arrives after significant spending on new arrivals, including the club-record deal for Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa.

City are not the only side interested, with AC Milan also monitoring Neto’s situation, while the winger’s representatives have explored options in Saudi Arabia with Al-Hilal.

For now, Chelsea remain determined to keep hold of Neto — but Maresca’s arrival at City has added another intriguing layer to the situation.
