The Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping to see a little bit more of Phil Foden next season. The Englishman has featured a handful of times over the last year or so, but he’s yet to break into Pep Guardiola’s plans on a weekly basis.
That said, any progress is good progress, and so he’ll likely be pleased with how his career is going.
Indeed, it appears as though Man City themselves are pretty pleased too – at least according to a report from the Times.
Guardiola clearly rates Foden, given that he made three competitive starts last season, and it’s safe to expect his game time to increase further next season.
In total, he made 10 appearances last season.
An attacking midfielder, he looks to control the game with his brilliant technical skill and quality.
Landlord’s Verdict
Foden is a player with bags of talent, and he quite clearly has a very bright future.
Unfortunately for him, though, the attacking midfield area of the team is also the strongest facet of Guardiola’s team – and so it’s not going to be easy for him.
However, he has come on leaps and bounds as of late, and another year under Pep Guardiola could be invaluable for him.
A new deal makes sense for all involved.
