Manchester City have enjoyed a strong start to the 2025/26 season following a major summer overhaul.
After a challenging 2024/25 campaign, the Premier League champions have looked closer to their best, securing three wins from six league games and an impressive 2-0 victory over Napoli in the Champions League.
Tijjani Reijnders has been a revelation in midfield, Gianluigi Donnarumma a stalwart between the sticks, and Rayan Aït-Nouri – before getting injured – looked a solid addition at full-back.
Add into that the brilliant form of both Erling Haaland and Jeremy Doku, and Pep Guardiola’s side look like genuine title contenders once again.
While progress is evident, however, Guardiola’s vision for the squad is far from complete, with the Spaniard still looking to perfect his midfield setup.
Man City Eye Joao Neves Move

Reports from Fichajes suggest that Manchester City are planning a bold move for PSG midfielder Joao Neves, who has caught the attention of Guardiola.
The manager reportedly sees the 20-year-old as an ideal addition to City’s midfield, providing balance and creativity to complement his current options.
Guardiola has reportedly urged the board to back the transfer. Sources indicate that City could launch an opening bid of €120 million for the Portugal international. PSG, however, are reluctant to let go of one of their key players, making negotiations a potential challenge.
If successful, Neves – described by transfer expert Pete O’Rourke as Guardiola’s “dream signing” – would bring youthful energy, tactical intelligence, and technical skill to City’s midfield, aligning perfectly with Guardiola’s vision for the squad.
