Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern are excitedly mocking their Arsenal counterparts after hearing that their side is set to beat the Gunners to the signature of their long-term target.
Marca claim the Citizens are stepping-up their pursuit of Sevilla ace Grzegorz Krychowiak, with Manuel Pellegrini planning to activate the Polish international’s £21.2m release-clause.
Arsenal are long-term admirers of the last season’s Europa League final scorer but City are ready to move ahead, though they may have to pay more for the player’s signature as Krychowiak is currently in negotiations for a new contract.
A new deal wouldn’t rule out a January exit for the highly-rated Polish midfielder but would raise his release clause, although the Citizens wouldn’t be reluctant to match the new figure.
Krychowiak’s Sevilla team-mate Ever Banega is also on Pellegrini’s radar, with the Chilean targeting a defensive-midfielder to improve his squad in their quest to win the Premier League and improve on the club’s recent European fortunes.
