The Express have Manchester United fans smiling with glee here in the Football Transfer Tavern as they claim Robin van Persie has made it very clear just what he thinks about rumours claiming his United career could be over.
The Dutch forward issued a clear message to his detractors and claimed: “I don’t think it’s an age thing – I live a quiet life for my football and I’m almost convinced now that I will play for many years to come at the highest level, at least that’s what I want and what I’m aiming for.
“The age thing is not an issue for me at all.”
The former Arsenal forward spoke to Sky Sports and noted he could go on for ‘eight more years’ which is a fair bit of time indeed.
As some of our regulars note, when we look at players like Didier Drogba who is 36 years young and still flying, the fact of the matter is, players can go on until their late 30’s should they maintain fitness with a burning determination still there.
RVP certainly ticks both of those boxes along with having a manager who can certainly rest him when he needs it.
