Manchester United endured a difficult start to the season but have began to turn things around under Jose Mourinho, with the fans her in the Transfer Tavern pleased with the Portuguese boss’ tenure at Old Trafford and enjoying many celebrations this season.
Having splashed the cash in summer, it’s likely that January will be a quiet window from Manchester United but there is a danger of scenarios occurring, that fans will not be happy with in this mid-season window.
United usually don’t have too much to be concerned about in the transfer market, as they’re a big enough club and have enough financial stability to compete and ensure their best players aren’t pinched by rival sides, but that doesn’t mean there is no reason to worry.

Defensive exits
Manchester United’s defence has looked shaky this season and injury problems have been present.
Whilst the likes of Matteo Darmian, Daley Blind and Marcos Rojo have looked suspect at times, and it’s debatable what their long-term future holds, United can’t afford defensive exits.
With Eric Bailly at the African Cup of Nations, United’s defensive ranks are already depleted and any exits this month could be extremely detrimental. In any scenario, a replacement would have to be signed before any exit was approved.
Heads being turned
The other major risk for Manchester United this month is that some of their better players have their heads turned by rival clubs, potentially opening the door for a summer move- which includes the likes of David De Gea, a long-term target of Real Madrid, and Anthony Martial, who’s attracted some interest.
It’s highly unlikely United will lose their best players this month but any interest in their services could have a big effect, as players will demand more regular opportunities and may start to wonder what life would be like elsewhere.
