Man United Shirt Banned

Muslims have been reminded they are not permitted wittingly or unwittingly to wear football jerseys which display images of crosses, liquor brands and devils.

Johor Religious Council adviser Datuk Nooh Gadot has said wearing such jerseys were forbidden in Islam.

“It is as if Muslims are worshiping and exalting the symbols of other religions. Islam does not compromise on this matter, regardless of whether it is worn for fun, fashion or sport. This is dangerous. We shall not worship the symbols of other religions or the devil.”

Perak Mufti Tan Sri Harussani Zakaria, who agreed with Nooh, said although Islam did not forbid its followers from participating in sports or dressing up, it has to be done within the boundaries of Islamic law.

Crosses feature on the strips of Brazil, Portugal, Serbia, Barcelona and Norway, while Manchester United leads the pack by actually bearing the “Red Devil” slogan on its team crest.

Well now, when it comes to football, one man has for many years been the most noticeable, the most controversial, and occasionally the most successful blogger this country has ever produced. His pithy words and abrasive style make him as famous off the pitch as he is on it. This man is Escapini. "I love football. Football she's a cruel mistress. She's, she's more than a mistress. She's a wife, she's a mother, she's a daughter, she's an errant child. She's a… she's a… she can make you laugh, she make you cry. She can bring tears me eyes. She can bring blood to me shoulders. She can bring a kettle to the boil." "Cause football is about nothing, unless it's about something and what it is about, is football."
