Our Manchester United fans are feeling more positive about 2017 than they might have done a few weeks ago and The Sun’s report that Antonio Valencia has signed a new deal is only enhancing that.
Indeed, it wasn’t long ago that the supporters of the Old Trafford club here by the bar were looking into their pint glasses with rather glum faces as draw after draw was recorded.
The team just couldn’t find a winning formula but wind forward a few weeks we now find a team that finally looks to be gelling.
Jose Mourinho seems to have found a consistent team he likes playing and, certainly, Antonio Valencia is a big part of that.
The former winger has been a right back for some time and appears to have really transformed into that role, so much so that a two-year-deal has been afforded to him.
He combines great strength, work rate and pace whilst he’s got genuine defensive acumen and our landlord reckons getting him tied down for the next couple of seasons is a very wise move.
