The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern are fearing the worst today after midfielder Marouane Fellaini’s injury-forced substitution against Tottenham. The Belgian was only on the field for a few minutes before being hauled off by Mourinho, with the midfielder clearly in some discomfort.
Indeed, in the modern game, knee problems have plagued a number of top players, and particularly in this case, they can be particularly difficult to move past. Nothing is clearly working for Fellaini, at present, having been repeatedly forced out of action so far this term.
Of course, he has been limited to just 3 Premier League starts this season, highlighting just how rampant his problems have been this term.
Suffering three separate injuries in three different areas can often be put down purely to bad luck – but there is clearly something more significant here, leaving our resident Man Utd fans feeling very concerned indeed.
Landlord’s Verdict
This is a problem for Man Utd.
Fellaini, though not a particularly silky and technically gifted player, is important for the Red Devils, and he has been particularly useful to Jose Mourinho since the Portuguese moved to Old Trafford.
If he can’t move past these issues, and they keep reoccurring, this could have massive implications on the longevity of his stint at the highest level.
