The Swedish forward signed a new deal with the Red Devils earlier this year, much to the joy of the fans in the Transfer Tavern. Of course, a long-term injury blow forced him out of action towards the end of his first year in Manchester, but unfinished business has led him back to Old Trafford.
Despite signing on, he is yet to represent the club as he continues his road to recovery, but a recent update from the Swede does offer reason for optimism.
Speaking at a Volvo event, via the Mirror, Ibrahimovic said: “The knee is almost there…I want everybody to have patience, and when I come back, the world will know”.
In typical Zlatan fashion, he certainly isn’t playing down the prospect of his return. It’s clear that he wants to make a massive impact at Old Trafford, and if his first season is anything to go by, fans will find it hard to ignore the striker on the pitch.
His first line is also very telling, as it suggests that a return is coming sooner, rather than later. Ibrahimovic was not expected to play before Christmas, but now that estimation could be brought forward a touch.
This has left the Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern feeling very excited indeed.
Landlord’s Verdict
Ibrahimovic’s return will come at a key time for Man Utd. Around the turn of the year, their fixtures will pick up in frequency and importance, and the Swede is the perfect player for them to turn to.
He might not be a starter ahead of Romelu Lukaku, but he will continue to be a valuable asset for the Red Devils.
