In news that has sparked fierce discussion in the Football Transfer Tavern talkSPORT suggest that Fiorentina will try to sign either Chelsea’s Fernando Torres or Manchester City’s Edin Dzeko if they decide to sell Stevan Jovetic this summer.
The Arsenal striking target is rated at £20 million and the Gunners are thought to preparing a bid for the Montenegrin hitman when the transfer window opens after the end of the season.
If the Viola receive such a fee, the Italian side will have decent money to spend on an adequate replacement.
Torres has been a flop at Chelsea after his record-breaking £50 million switch from Liverpool in January 2011 while City forked out £27 million for Dzeko in the same month. However both have failed to really shine at their respective clubs and with two new managers in place their long-term futures look gloomy.
Both clubs would be looking to recoup some of the transfer fee paid but it wouldn’t be a problem for Fiorentina if they let Jovetic leave for Arsenal.
