After thrashing Burnley 4-1 in their last outing, sealing a much-needed victory ahead of a crucial derby clash, supporters have bemoaned the news that Anthony Taylor and Michael Oliver have been appointed as referee and VAR chief respectively.
Oliver was on the receiving end of some City criticism after failing to spot Trent Alexander-Arnold’s handball in the build-up to Liverpool’s first goal during their 3-1 win over the Sky Blues a few weeks ago – prompting a hilarious moment between Pep Guardiola and the official at full time.
Now, after the announcement Oliver will be in charge of video technology for the encounter, City supporters are less than amused with the decision – forcing supporters to go on Twitter and voice their outrage ahead of a crucial Manchester derby on Saturday.
Here’s how they responded on social media to the announcement:
Worst two referees assigned, one to damage City on the pitch and one to screw them on VAR. The corrupt FA is relentless in their campaign against City.
