According to a piece from the Athletic, Manchester City bid an emotional farewell to former assistant boss Mikel Arteta on Thursday following rumours that he was on the verge of taking the managerial vacancy at former club Arsenal – prompting City supporters to wish him all the best, but at the same time, feel slightly scared for Pep Guardiola’s former understudy.
Arteta, who stood alongside Guardiola in the Sky Blue dugout over the past three seasons, helping the club to haul two Premier League titles, two Community Shields, two League Cups and an FA Cup, is imminently signing for Arsenal as manager after former boss Unai Emery received his marching orders.
Indeed, his first job as head coach could be considered a massive ask given his lack of experience at the helm, and City supporters have wished him all the best with his brave decision whilst also remaining slightly pessimistic.
Here’s how they reacted to Arteta’s appointment on Twitter.
I’m afraid Arsenal are gonna destroy him, they are in a real mess, it’s gonna take wonders to do well there atm

I wish him luck , but I think it’s too soon for him , Arsenal are in a mess from the top to the bottom of the club, it could be a poison chalice
