According to an update by Bild journalist Christian Falk, Man City are preparing an offer in the region of £36.1 million for Borussia Mönchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria next summer – with Sky Blue supporters going on to swoon over the update on Twitter.
Zakaria, who started 22 Bundesliga games last season, making 2.1 tackles per 90 in that time (WhoScored), is now at the centre of sporting director Txiki Begiristain’s interest according to Falk – with City weighing up a summer swoop.
The robust midfielder, likened to Sky Blues cult hero Yaya Toure by some supporters, is also being tipped by a few fans as the ideal heir to Fernandinho in the middle of the park – going on to beg Begiristain for his signature.
At just 23-years-old, he has already garnered 28 caps for Switzerland at international level – with the youngster possessing bags of potential at just £36.1m.
