Manchester City: Fans divided over whether Yan Couto is a worthwhile signing

Responding to insight from Manchester Evening News journalist Simon Bajkowski, many Manchester City fans have been debating the merit of brand new signing Yan Couto – with one supporter hinting he could be a ‘Walker replacement‘ whilst another suggested he will ‘never get a sniff‘ of first team action.

Couto, who signed for the Sky Blues at the beginning of March, choosing the Etihad Stadium over the Nou Camp according to Bajkowski is seen as a potential future starlet – with the 17-year-old Brazilian defender joining City from Coritiba. Nicknamed the ‘new Dani Alves‘, as relayed by the Daily Mail, the teenage sensation could indeed become one to watch for the future at Eastlands – even despite Pep Guardiola’s squad seemingly looking stacked in terms of full-backs. The likes of Kyle Walker, Joao Cancelo, Benjamin Mendy and Oleksandr Zinchenko make up City’s current ranks, but if Couto is indeed the new Alves, Guardiola could have landed a real prospect.

Here’s how supporters debated the signing on Twitter.
