Manchester City: Fans react to David Silva update

David Silva Man City

Fans of Manchester City have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays reports that David Silva’s contract will be extended beyond this summer due to the current unexpected break from football.

The 34-year-old Silva has been a magnificent servant for Manchester City over his 10 years at the club, making 424 appearances, scoring 74 goals and providing 137 assists, while helping the club to win four Premier League titles, five League Cups, two FA Cups and two Community Shields.

Despite his advancing years, Silva has once again been influential for City this season, scoring three goals and providing seven assists in 19 Premier League fixtures, averaging a very impressive WhoScored match rating of 7.15 throughout his club’s campaign.

The former Spanish international had previously announced he was leaving City at the end of his contract this summer, however, due to the current unexpected break from the football season, Manchester Evening News now reports that Silva’s contract will be extended to cover the remaining rearranged Premier League fixtures.

In reaction to the news, which was relayed by Man City Xtra on Twitter, fans of the club have flocked to have their say on the matter, with many stating their joy at the news, while others have called for the club to extend the £13.5million-rated midfielder’s contract even further than the end of this season.

You can see some of their replies below:

Manchester City will give David Silva the send-off he deserves, once the COVID-19 pandemic is over.

The Spaniard’s contract, which ends in June, is also set to be extended.
