Our Manchester City fans here in the Transfer Tavern are eager to see manager Pep Guardiola sign a few more players in this window.
The men from the Etihad have already seen a fair few players arrive this summer with the likes of Danilo, Kyle Walker and Benjamin Mendy all coming in to strengthen the club’s full-back areas.
For sure, the club needed to do that, too, but there is still a glaring issue that needs sorting at the club before they can truly be happy with their squad – centre-back.
Indeed, whilst we all know how good Vincent Kompany is the other options just aren’t up to scratch at the moment in terms of another world class option.
And, in all honest, it’s going to be hard to get in a world-class player at this late stage, too, but that doesn’t mean City shouldn’t act.
Indeed, we reckon that they should go after Shkodran Mustafi who, though he isn’t world class, is far better than what some may have you believe at Arsenal.
The German international has got all the hallmarks of a top modern defender.
He is good on the ball, powerful in the challenge and a strong communicator whilst he’s far less likely to do something rash compared to some of City’s options.
For sure, then, he could be a very viable option but City had better act quick as he could go to Inter Milan as per Sky Sports.
