Manchester United supporting punters here in the Transfer Tavern are looking at the latest report from Metro with intrigue – as the publication claims that Manchester United are among a number of clubs vying for the signature of PSG midfielder Marco Verratti.
The media outlet cites a report from the Daily Star which says that the Italian midfielder would leave the club for a fee of around £72 million, and this number has caused a few United fans to choke on their pints here in the Tavern!
Our landlord cannot believe the extortionate figure that is being banded around for the 22-year-old, and he feels that the Italian is definitely worth upwards of £30 million, but anything near £70 million is a complete and utter joke.
The 5ft 5 central midfielder is one of the world’s most promising midfielders, and he is a player who’s name often comes up in discussion here in the Transfer Tavern.
A few United fans over by the billiards table here in the Tavern feel that Verratti would be a good signing, but feel the reported sum of money is just ludicrous!
