Manchester United fans are moving away from the pool table and over to the bar here in the Football Transfer Tavern as they see our landlord look up and divulge the latest news coming from Sky Sports, who seem to think that Luke Shaw is finally happy at Old Trafford.
The left-back had a horrendous start to life under Louis van Gaal and doubts had emerged over his ability and future, but after a period of injury and then adjustment to life at a club like United (and being banned from visits to the burger van outside Carrington), Shaw is now comfortable at the club.
He claimed: ‘I haven’t been playing and there has been a lot of negative comments about me. It is something that isn’t nice and I’ve tried to ignore it, but hopefully the Chelsea game is the start of me coming back.
‘I am positive. It was my first performance for six weeks, so it was great to be back on the pitch.’
We were rather impressed with him against Chelsea and thought he gave Branislav Ivanovic a torrid time going forward, but more is certainly needed from the England international.
