Southampton’s Adam Lallana has clearly come a long way since he was playing League One football.
The England international is featured on both the front and back pages of today’s newspapers after the Sun splashed on him getting married on Christmas Eve.
However the story with far more interest to those in the Football Transfer Tavern comes from the Daily Star who lead with an exclusive story about a possible future destination for the Saints star.
The paper reports that Manchester United are now planning to make a move for Lallana in January.
It comes as no surprise to see the in-form midfielder linked with a move away from St. Mary’s after a string of fine displays for club and country.
He is thought to be rated at around £20 million by the south coast club with suggestions that the England ace has been lined up by David Moyes as the man to save their flagging season.
Persuading the Saints to sell their star man will be quite some task, however, with the 25-year-old newlywed recently penning a new five-year deal which keeps him at the club until 2018.
Lallana has been at his boyhood club since the age of 12 and it will certainly take a massive offer to tempt him to Old Trafford.
