Marcus Rashford has rediscovered his best form during a hugely impressive loan spell with FC Barcelona this season.
The England international has racked up 13 goals and 14 assists in all competitions, playing a major role in Barça’s push for the La Liga title and quickly becoming a fan favourite in Catalonia.
Barcelona do hold an option to make the move permanent for around £26 million, but the club’s ongoing financial issues have cast doubt over whether they can finalise the deal this summer.
Regardless of what happens in Spain, though, it appears Manchester United have already made their stance crystal clear.
United Make Rashford Decision
According to The Sun, Manchester United have no intention of reintegrating Rashford into their first-team plans next season.
Senior figures at Old Trafford are still said to favour a permanent sale, even if Barcelona decide against activating their purchase clause before the June deadline. Rashford’s wages are also due to rise this summer following United’s Champions League qualification, further complicating any potential return.
The forward himself is reportedly against going back after a turbulent final period at his boyhood club. Signs of that separation have already become visible off the pitch too, with references to United removed from his social media accounts as he rebrands himself under the “MR14” identity linked to his Barcelona squad number.
Despite remaining under contract until 2028, Rashford has not featured for United since December 2024, having also spent time away on loan at Aston Villa before moving to Spain.
At this point, the situation feels less like a temporary loan and more like a relationship that has already ended — both sides just waiting for the paperwork to catch up.
