Champions League club ‘prepared to double’ wages of “outstanding” Manchester United star to lure him away from Old Trafford

Manchester United have already overseen plenty of change in midfield this summer, with Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos arriving as Michael Carrick continues to reshape his squad.

There have also been significant departures, with Casemiro, Rasmus Højlund and Jadon Sancho all moving on, while Marcus Rashford is back in the picture after his loan spell away from Old Trafford.

Now, however, United face a major battle to keep one of their most important players, with a Champions League club ready to offer him a huge financial incentive to leave.

Galatasaray Prepared to Double Fernandes’ Wages

Galatasaray are prepared to offer Bruno Fernandes double his current wages in an attempt to convince the Manchester United captain to move to Turkey, according to The Telegraph.

The Turkish champions are reportedly ready to test United’s resolve with a package worth around €50 million (£42.8m), including potential add-ons.

Galatasaray president Dursun Özbek is said to be determined to land Fernandes and would reportedly offer the 31-year-old a four-year contract worth around €21m (£18.3m) net per season, alongside a €4m signing-on payment.

Thanks to Turkey’s favourable tax arrangements, that package could effectively double Fernandes’ current take-home earnings.

The Portugal international is entering the final year of his United contract, which is worth around £200,000 per week, although the club can extend it by another 12 months.

Despite the interest, United have no intention of selling Fernandes, whom they regard as central to their plans. His previous €65m release clause has also expired, meaning Galatasaray would now need to negotiate directly with the Red Devils.

A further offer could reportedly arrive soon, potentially starting at €35m with another €15m available through bonuses.

Fernandes has previously been described as “outstanding” by Premier League icon Thierry Henry, and United will be desperate to retain a player who remains central to their project.
