Fabrizio Romano has revealed Manchester United will only sell Aaron Wan-Bissaka if they receive an 'important' bid this summer.

The Lowdown: Wan-Bissaka has turned things around

In the past two transfer windows, reports have suggested that Wan-Bissaka's Man United career could have been coming to an end after failing to live up to his £50m transfer fee, which they paid back in the summer of 2019.

However, despite him being tipped with a return back to Crystal Palace, nothing has ever come to fruition, which appears to have come to the benefit of Man United, as he's seemingly won over Erik ten Hag in the past few months.

Wan-Bissaka has proved to be solid competition for Diogo Dalot when it comes to the right-back spot, with the former Palace defender having featured in 10 of the last 12 league matches for Man United, showing how important he's become under the Dutchman.

The Latest: Ten Hag now unwilling to sell Wan-Bissaka

It's been quite the 12 months for Wan-Bissaka to have gone from fringe player to first-team starter under Ten Hag, and that could now be rounded off by Man United pushing back any summer offers for him, as Romano spoke about his future on The United Stand YouTube channel.

He said: "I think this is an open situation because it was a strange story. In November and December, he was on the market, Man United were trying to find a solution.

"Then he was very good in changing his story with Manchester United in January, to start to play at the top level and to train at the top level, so credit to Wan-Bissaka, because it's never easy when you are on the market to change your situation and have this second part of the season.

"At the moment, I think Manchester United are very happy with him and with Dalot, so they wait for Wan-Bissaka's situation to be clarified in the summer. Wan-Bissaka had some approaches in the January transfer window from Wolves, from West Ham, from Crystal Palace - but it was always a loan deal.

"This is why from Man United it was a 'no', so I'm sure that Man United will not accept any loans for Wan-Bissaka. In case they will receive an important proposal financially for a permanent transfer, we have to see."

The verdict: Man United can focus on improving other areas

It's a testament to the character of Wan-Bissaka that he never gave up on his career as a Man United player, especially when it may have been easier to try to force a move back to the home comforts of Selhurst Park.

Now, it looks as though Man United have two solid options at right-back moving forward, which will allow Ten Hag to spend more of his budget on a new striker to lead the line in place of the ageing Wout Weghorst.

Wan-Bissaka may well be about to start showing why Man United spent so much money on him all that time ago when he had just one season of top-flight experience under his belt, especially if he continues to be a 'gamechanger' for the Red Devils as he was last Thursday against Real Betis.
