So the winter transfer window has now slammed shut and now is the time to take stock of what was another hectic deadline day here in the Football Transfer Tavern.
The overwhelming consensus around the bar is that one of the real winners on deadline day were Fulham who pretty much managed to rebuild their squad in just under 24 hours.
Dimitar Berbatov, Aaron Hughes, Adel Taarabt and Philippe Senderos have all departed the club in what was a hectic day at Craven Cottage.
Cottagers Manager Rene Meulensteen has seemingly used his massive book of contacts, probably from his days at Old Trafford, to significantly improve his struggling side which has offered great hope to those Fulham fans residing in the bar.
Everton defender Johnny Heitinga completed a free transfer to the club, Lewis Holtby joined for the rest of the campaign on a loan deal from Tottenham while Denmark international midfielder William Kvist also arrived from Stuttgart on loan.
While the major signing came in the form of £12.4 million Olympiakos striker Kostas Mitroglou, who had previously been linked with Liverpool, and is highly regarded in Europe.
Then after the deadline slammed shut two further permanent signings were confirmed on the Cottagers’ official website as the arrivals of Manchester United pair Ryan Tunnicliffe and Larnell Cole were confirmed.
Both players have signed contracts at Craven Cottage under 2017, as Meulensteen lands the highly rated Old Trafford pair. Tunnicliffe, 22, recently spent time on loan at Ipswich Town, while 20-year-old Cole is another product of the Old Trafford club’s academy.
It’s hard not to be impressed with Fulham’s deadline day work but we’ll only know in May if it will be enough to see Premier League football again next year at Craven Cottage.
