Manchester United fans are at the risk of receiving a rumour overload today here in the Football Transfer Tavern, and the Daily Mirror has done nothing to cease this.

The publication have claimed that the club are set to join the race for one of the hottest young properties in Europe, with Schalke star Julian Draxler now firmly on the radar of David Moyes.

The Manchester United manager has identified Draxler as someone who can be brought in and shake the squad up, but as our landlord and our punters note, the club will face some rather tough competition to land him.

Not only is there a rather large price tag on the head of the player, but Chelsea and Arsenal have already been heavily linked with the starlet as well.

We had thought that Arsenal were the favourites to land the German with Arsene Wenger most interested in the player, yet now David Moyes has joined the race, things are set to be shaken up somewhat.

One of our punters notes that the defending champions may be seventh in the table this season, but they cannot be underestimated.

The club have a huge reputation and could well turn anyone’s head should they enter the race for them.
