It’s been a fairly lacklustre few years for our Aston Villa regulars in the Football Transfer Tavern.
They think they’ve had one too many drinks this evening with the news that their club are chasing three Premier League players.
Villa boss Paul Lambert has struggled to get the claret and blue outfit to where he thinks they belong with the youngsters in recent seasons and according to The Guardian he plans to change his ways this summer.
Mexican striker Javier Hernandez heads the wanted trio with an interest in Manchester City misfit Joleon Lescott and Tottenham Hotspur outcast Lewis Holtby also on the list.
The potential deals could be seen by many as a little presumptuous with the Villans yet to secure their Premier League survival but it’s clear that something needs to be done at the club, even if they do stay up.
Randy Lerner has been coy on whether or not there will be funds available in the summer and Lambert may have to come up with some of the cash himself.
The Spurs supporting old boy in the corner has just mentioned that they would love to have Christian Benteke at his club.
The Villa regulars chuckle a little but realistically they agree that Benteke could be on his way this summer.
Our punters reckon Villa have a solid chance of landing Lescott but don’t give them much hope in landing Hernandez or Holtby. Let us know your thoughts below.
