There’s been some positive transfer news overnight for the few Manchester United supporters in the Football Transfer Tavern this morning.

Sky Sports have revealed that one of United’s major summer transfer targets has confirmed he would be interested in joining the Old Trafford club.

The player in question is Sporting Lisbon’s midfielder William Carvalho who has admitted it is nice to have some big European clubs, including United, after his signature.

Moyes has recently stepped up his interest in the Angolan-born youngster and has reportedly had scouts watch over 12 times as he prepares a summer bid.

Carvalho had emerged as one of the finest young talents in Europe and that has seen him linked with Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain in recent weeks.

A massive £37.5 million release clause is likely to deter suitors but it is thought that the Portuguese club may cash-in on the 21-year-old, at closer to £30 million.

Carvalho, who could be a surprise selection in Portugal’s squad for the upcoming World Cup, has now admitted that he wants to focus on Sporting for now, but is unsure about his plans for the summer.

“It’s nice being praised and to know there are some big clubs interested in me,” he said.

“It could be Manchester United or Real Madrid. It’s just nice to have a great European club after me, but at the moment I’m just totally focused on Sporting and doing my best until the end of the season.

“At the end of the campaign, we will see what happens.”
