Tottenham Hotspur will be preparing to face Chelsea at Wembley Stadium on Saturday evening and will be looking to continue their fine form.
Prior to heading into the international break, Spurs managed to record wins against Crystal Palace and PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League and will want to get a positive result against the Blues as they prepare for their home game against Inter Milan and the north London Derby with Arsenal.
Mauricio Pochettino has continuously been linked with a move away from the club after impressing with his managerial record, however, he has remained adamant that his future remains at Tottenham for the time being.
However, it appears that he has given one man his blessing to leave Wembley Stadium, should he want to become a manager in the future.
Pochettino’s trusted assistant manager Jesus Perez has earned plaudits for his work with the Argentine, which could make him an attractive prospect for another club, but it seems that may never happen.
“I don’t have any ambition to be number one,” he said.
“I fulfil everything being number two at this level, because to reach this level, wow. I wouldn’t change working with him to be number one elsewhere.
“He always says to us ‘if one of you wants to be number one’. Its not my ambition. As soon as one of the staff starts to think they want to be number one, for me, they have to leave the team. You know why? Because their energy is somewhere else.”
The Verdict:

Perez has been a key man beside Pochettino and has been with him where ever the Argentine has gone and the pair have been fairly successful.
The manager obviously rates him highly and will be pleased to an extent to hear that his trusted assistant does not want to leave him.
It could also be a great thing for Tottenham should Perez stick around, as a change to Pochettino’s staff could be as costly as the manager himself leaving.
