According to The Sun, Manchester United’s squad have backed Jose Mourinho after he let rip at Chris Smalling and Luke Shaw over the weekend, with our resident Red Devils fans here in the Transfer Tavern worried it’s going to cause even more poor form.
United did actually win at the weekend over a struggling Swansea side at the weekend but the Portuguese manager made it clear that he was not happy with his two defenders, neither of whom played against the Swans.
Both have played with pain-killing injections to get them through games this season but Mourinho is unhappy with the way, he feels, they are too quick to decide they are not fit and refuse themselves out of fixtures.
Indeed, the report suggests that many players in Mourinho’s squad have decided to accept they’ll have to play through pain under his stewardship, leaving Shaw and Smalling in precarious positions.
United are currently sixth in the league, eight points behind league leaders Liverpool.
This kind of dressing room related problem are often prevalent during Mourinho’s tenure at a club and are a major factor as to why he was axed from Chelsea just six months after winning the league.
