Our Manchester United fans here in the Transfer Tavern are getting very frustrated with their side at the moment and you cannot blame them.

Despite going on a good run of form and not losing many games they are still sixth in the Premier League table with them drawing an incredible amount of times.

That once again came to light in the week as they laboured to a 0-0 draw against Hull City and so the Old Trafford side really do have some work to do before they win the league again.

Certainly, Jose Mourinho has a bigger job on than he might have thought when he arrived at the club and it appears it’s a bit two steps forward one step back at the moment.

Our landlord thinks the Portuguese will get there in the end, though, but he needs to address these two problems to kick that process off…

Slow build-up

Manchester United play so slowly it really does frustrate many here in the Transfer Tavern.

They’ve got the rapid Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford but neither of them have played much this season and it’s made the Red Devils look ponderous and slack at times. Without pace in the Premier League you’re not going to put teams under pressure and win games so that has to be part of the reason why they’re not in contention for the title this season.

Killing off the small sides

United have really struggled against the so-called lesser sides in the division this year.

For whatever reason the likes of Hull and Burnley have come to Old Trafford and managed to get a point when the Manchester United of old would have seen them off with ease. Our local Red Devils our yearning for those days again but until Mourinho can sort that out nothing is going to happen for them.
