The Leeds fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to Phil Hay’s column in the Yorkshire Evening Post as he delivered the good news that the club is looking at re-signing Kyle Bartley, albeit a year late. The 26-year-old was on-loan at Elland Road for the 2016/17 season and despite his performances leaving him with a stellar reputation in Yorkshire, the club didn’t even enquire about a price last summer.

If this season has done anything for the Leeds United fans propping our bar up, it’s convinced them that Kyle Bartley is the real deal, even though most of them already knew that. In the previous campaign, Bartley and Jansson laid the defensive foundations for a strong Leeds United side. The Whites conceded at a rate of just a goal per game last season, this time around they’ve already conceded 17 goals more and still have one game to play.
There are a few issues surrounding Bartley as Leeds look to be gambling on their former loanee. The 26-year-old’s wages are reportedly comfortably more than the £15,000 per week limit in place at Elland Road and the current Swan has recently suffered his second knee injury in eight months. Whilst the wages can be negotiated and increased when some deadwood has been shipped, injuries could be a major issue for the player, although it’s fair to say the Leeds fans would argue that Bartley on one leg is better than what they’ve had this season anyway.
