Our resident Newcastle United fans here in the Transfer Tavern want to see them reel in Brighton at the top of the Championship and could do that if they pay £15 million for Scott Hogan according to Get West London.
The Magpies had been looking good to run away with the league in the Championship this season but they have been surpassed with Brighton aiming to get into the Premier League at last.
Rafa Benitez’s men shockingly lost to Blackburn Rovers last time out and so their apparent interest (via Chronicle Live) in Hogan suggests that the Spaniard wants more goals from his team to secure crucial victories.
Hogan is one of the top scorers in the Championship and if Newcastle were able to combine him up front with the even more prolific Dwight Gayle they’d surely hit a huge amount of goals for the rest of this season.
Our landlord reckons it’s a deal that makes great sense, then, and thinks the reported £15 million may just be worth it if it secures Premier League football at St. James’ next season.
