Newcastle fans face uphill battle to sign Sensi as huge Italian trio eye his signature

IWhenver Newcastle United are eyeing up a signing, it’s hard enough to bring them in even when they’re the only interested club, so for the Magpies to be looking to sign Stefano Sensi from Sassuolo is a serious stretch seeing as The Chronicle have reported that Rafa Benitez would be competing with Juventus, Inter and AC Milan for the 23-year-old’s signature.

It’s fair to say that The Geordies are already writing themselves off in the race for this young budding Italian international. Sensi starred when Italy beat the USA 1-0 in a friendly fixture over the break and Roberto Mancini was left purring over his latest call-up, claiming that the Sassuolo man will become ‘a big personality’ as he continues to develop into a dangerous creative midfielder.

At a glance, it doesn’t look like there’s much to Sensi. The Italian stands at just five foot six inches tall and he’s yet to score a goal for Sassuolo this season. Although underneath that there lies a great player. Not just anyone can have Italian football’s three biggest clubs on red alert and if he’s good enough for Juventus to take an interest then he’ll certainly be worth his salt at St James Park, even if the supporters have zero faith in pulling off his signing.

The Geordies have little faith in signing anyone in January, let alone a man on the radar of the biggest clubs in Italian football.
