Newcastle fans on Twitter delighted to see 5-0 Sunderland thumping

Last night saw a huge win for Newcastle’s U23 side in the Premier League 2 as they dispatched sorry Sunderland 5-0 at St James Park. Goals from Owen Bailey, Cal Roberts, Luke Charman (2) and Elias Sörensen gave the Magpies the win and they’ve been pretty vocal about it.

It might be a while before Newcastle can enjoy a win over Sunderland in a senior match seeing as they’re currently three divisions apart, but that doesn’t mean they can’t savour those sweet derby wins from their youth squads. The Geordies ripped The Mackems to pieces last night and it’s a win that’s led to a lot of supporters calling for some of the young Magpies to step up into the senior squad.

It might be a bit drastic for the fans to demand some of their U23s be thrown into Sunday’s home clash with Chelsea, but with some of the exciting young talents already on the fans radars, it wouldn’t be too much of a surprise to see one or two given a spot on the bench. One lad who the fans really want to see is young Jamie Sterry who the fans believe would be able to fill in the depth issues at full-back.
